Considering a renovation? Want to freshen up your home with a new look?  Before you begin any project, it's important to evaluate your budget and plan accordingly.

Here’s a brief overview of renovation costs for Walls, Windows and Doors.

Your Walls

Whether you’re thinking of tearing down old walls, erecting new ones - or cosmetically altering existing walls - aesthetics and workmanship matter. So before you pick up a paintbrush or attempt to hang that expensive pattern-happy wallpaper, consider calling on an expert.

Painting
For an average-sized 12' x 12' room, a complete paint job will cost between $750 and $1,000 (i.e. basic walls, ceiling and trim). These prices are subject to the quality of paint used and the amount of prep work needed (i.e primer, stripping, taping, et cetra.). Not all paint is created equally however. Depending on the room in the house, the sheen or finish of your paint is very important; you don't want to use the same sheen in your bathroom as you would in your hallways. This image highlights the best paint sheens to use in each area of your home:

Wallpaper

No longer reserved only for your grandmother's house, Wallpaper is back and in a big way! Wallpapering a room seamlessly however is an art form, especially if you're working with heavily patterned designs. In cases like these, relying on an expert makes sense.

  • The average price to supply, install, trim and flash a new 5×7 foot window is $1,000 .
  • Prices fluctuate depending on size and material. A small basement window, for instance, will cost around $500. And when it comes to type, vinyl styles are more affordable, while wood, fiberglass and aluminum-clad options tend to be more costly.

DOORS: A NEW BEGINNING

Doors are one of the key elements that frame the first impression to you home; both interior and exterior doors have a tremendous impact on the look and feel of your property.

Regardless of your style, a new door can bring promise and new energy to any room.

  • If hiring a professional, installing and trimming a basic interior door will cost start around $300 to $400 (this price includes a standard Masonite door and casing).
